My name is Mrs. Brooks and I am happy to be teaching English this year!
My goal is to help students become more confident and effective communicators. In all my classes, we will practice active listening, close reading and verbal self-reflection. I will work to grow my students’ vocabularies and to expose them to great writing; I will teach them to use language carefully and deliberately in order to cultivate their unique voices. Hopefully, my students will become more aware of the many creative ways language shapes our consciousness and unites us all in dialogue. I intend to set clear, daily objectives, so we can close each class with a sense of accomplishment. I will do my best to ensure everyone feels comfortable and respected as a valued participant in class. I look forward to learning alongside the 7th and 8th graders this year!
