CLASS CURRICULUM

Religion: Christ in Us
We will learn about the sacraments, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We will learn in depth about Advent, Lent, and the Easter season. Each class participates in All Saint's Day activities, Mass, and Stations of the Cross.
Math: McGraw Hill-Reveal Math & Math Simple Solutions
We will concentrate on multiplying, place value, shapes, subtraction, regrouping and borrowing concepts, and addition.  Simple Solutions math is a separate, daily practice book for mastery in mathematical concepts in telling time, measuring, and learning basic facts.
Students also participate in First in Math and Reflex during class and at home.
Language Arts:  Houghton Mifflin Harcourt & Grammar Simple Solutions
Units of Study include reading various texts every week, comprehension skills, vocabulary focus, and learning to write responses to stories, create poems, and participate in Reader's Theater activities and plays.  Simple Solutions grammar is a daily practice for instruction in nouns, verbs, pronouns, contractions, adverbs, adjectives, and proper punctuation.
Science: Lab Learner (Mrs. Chardo)
Units of Study will focus on Ecosystems, Properties of Matter, Electricity, and the Human Body. We will investigate science concepts further by participating in 6 STEM projects within our Lab Learner science room.
Social Studies: (Mrs. Kline)
Units of Study will include famous people, popular world events, and cultures. Students will create a biography lap book, learn to read maps, and experience cultures through foods, music, and media.

Classroom notes:
*** In the event there is a change in your child's regular way of going home, please send a note into school that morning. If this occurs unexpectedly during the day, please contact the OFFICE immediately. I do not always have the opportunity to check Dojo or email after the school day begins and I want to be sure your child gets home the correct way.
* A "Daily Folder" will be inside your child's backpack every day. This folder is to be returned to school DAILY. Please place all envelopes for me inside the folder.  LABEL all envelopes with your child's name, what is in the envelope, (tuition, cafeteria, field trip, mission money, etc.) and "3B".
* Our library day is Monday. Unfortunately, students will not be allowed to check out a new book unless the previous week's book has been returned.  Library fines will accumulate daily for overdue books.
*  I can be reached via email at [email protected] or by ClassDojo. The office phone number is 717-533-2854 for your reference. I am available after school from 3:15-4:00 by appointment, if needed . Please contact me if you need to schedule a time to talk/meet.
* Please send a water bottle in with your child for hydration during the day. The bottle MUST have either a straw or a lid so the bottle does not leak or spill if tipped over.
* Please label everything, including lunch boxes, water bottles, backpacks, and clothing with your child's first and last name. Label ALL clothing on the tags with permanent marker.
* Children are to wear their gym uniforms to school on Fridays.
